McElvaine Investment Management Ltd. is an independent, owner-operated firm in Victoria, British Columbia. We manage one strategy, we invest our own money in it, and when you call or write, a real member of our small team answers, often the people who run the fund themselves.
The managers
Who runs your money
Tim McElvaine
Founder & Lead Portfolio Manager
Tim founded the McElvaine Value Fund in 1996 and has managed it ever since. He worked closely with Peter Cundill, including as Chief Investment Officer and co-manager of the Mackenzie Cundill Value Fund.
Tim has served on several public company boards and is currently a director of Tiny Ltd. He is both a CPA and a CFA.
Dr. Lorne David Porayko, MD, FRCPC
Portfolio Manager
Lorne manages the fund together with Tim, having become a portfolio manager in August 2026 when The Osler Fund was merged into it. He practises medicine and manages money, and each discipline sharpens the other. From medicine he brings the Osler tradition: gather the evidence first, then make the diagnosis.
Lorne is a staff critical care physician and anaesthesiologist, and has practised in Victoria, BC for 27 years.
Together with their families, Tim and Lorne are the fund's largest investor.

Who you'll actually talk to
Kate Jordan
Administration
Kate looks after administration, and is Tim's wife. She holds a BSc from McGill and has been involved in a number of businesses, including founding Flaming June Day Spa.
Outside the fund, Kate breeds Devon Rex cats at Pacific Devon Rex.
Jennifer Porayko
Communications & Investor Relations
Jennifer works with Lorne, and is his wife. She brings more than 25 years of experience in communications, with a particular emphasis on investor relations over the past ten.
Jennifer is registered with us as a Dealing Representative.
